History of the School

Our History

Trinity Collegiate School was founded in 1995 as an independent college preparatory school for students in grades 7-9. One grade was added each year until the first graduating class matriculated in 1999. Classes were originally held on the campus of St. John's Episcopal School in Florence, SC until the school was moved to its current campus on Hoffmeyer Road in Darlington, SC in 1997.

In 2012, the school integrated with The Byrnes Schools, temporarily adding on a 6th grade for one year, and changing the name of the school to Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School. In 2014 and 2017, two more academic buildings were completed to accommodate the school's growing enrollment. The buildings include classrooms, science labs, seminar rooms, and a new dining hall. The 2019 school year opened with a record number of over 300 students.

The school celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020, returning to the original name of Trinity Collegiate School. The year was highlighted by the launching of our Pre-AP Program along with the permanent addition of a 6th grade. The AP Capstone Diploma was added at the opening of the 2022-23 school term.
